The California Home
Love is a group effort...

LOVE REMEDIES A MULTITUDE OF WRONGS

February, as you know, brings in Valentine’s Day. A holiday where many of us scramble to make sure those close to us KNOW we love them! After all – Love is a many-splendored thing. While Love for our family and friends is the most important, I think it’s also essential to express my heartfelt desire for helping people find a home where their heart is.

Corey Chambers

My favorite love description is: Love is patient, Love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. I could go on with all kinds of examples like – “Love Your Neighbor as Yourself,” even go all business-like and say “ how much we love your referrals” and more.

But, the point is we do love helping people sell and buy real estate. And those people say we are good at it!

Please know that my team and I are eager to help anyone you know wanting to make a move. So much so that we are willing to make an offer that your referrals will LOVE – AND – the Kids at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles will love too.

Your referrals help the kids!

Go Serve Big!!! Investing In Our Southern Californian Kids

Why I support Childrenʼs Hospital Los Angeles

I grew up right here in the Greater Los Angeles Area, born in Los Angeles County at St. Francis Hospital. I remember when I first heard about a young person close to our family suffering from a serious disease and getting treated for that at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. It was then that I began to pay closer attention to the work they do at that hospital. Since then, I have learned that it is a collection of hard-working health care professionals, most making their home right here in the Los Angeles area, all coming together for a common cause. That cause is to help young people overcome unfortunate health issues that life sometimes throws our way. Being a Los Angeles Area California native, I take pride in supporting in a way that I can do the good work these people do at Children’s. My team rallies around our annual goal of raising money and donating portions of our income to help Children’s in their quest to heal young people when they need healing. My team and I are committed to providing outstanding results for buyers and sellers referred to us by our past clients. I have discovered that Children’s Hospital Los Angeles shares a similar commitment to their patients. And since their services survive on sponsorships and donations, we are happy to contribute and proud to support them.

Sincerely,

Corey Chambers

Lifesaving Brain Surgery Rescues Buddy From a Rare Encephalitis

A neurological disease called Rasmussen’s encephalitis terrorized the 3-year-old with nonstop epileptic seizures. The only hope was a hemispherectomy, in which doctors disconnect the two halves of the brain so one cannot disturb the other.

By Jeff Weinstock

“How can I say yes to someone asking me if I am OK with them cutting my kid’s head open and taking part of his brain out?” Paul asks, emotion clenching his voice. “I didn’t know how to be OK with that.”

But what other option was there? His son, nicknamed Buddy, had been besieged for months by the effects of Rasmussen’s encephalitis, a rare brain disorder that causes inflammation in one half, or hemisphere, of the brain, triggering epileptic seizures that can devastate mental and physical function.

The disease, which generally strikes young children, ravaged the left side of Buddy’s brain. Since its onset in June 2022, when Buddy was 3, the number of seizures would rise and fall, staved off by a pile of medications. But now they were coming virtually uninterrupted—over 150 a day—a potentially fatal condition called status epilepticus that forced Buddy to be admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles with a breathing tube.

“Out of an hour, he was spending 40 minutes either having seizures or recovering from seizures,” CHLA neurologist Latanya Agurs, MD, says, “and he would spend the entire day receiving emergency doses of medications, just to seize over and over again.”

The one effective treatment for Rasmussen’s encephalitis is surgical, but the graphic nature of the procedure, called a hemispherectomy, unnerved Paul and Kristen, Buddy’s mother. Doctors cut away nerve fibers bridging the two halves of the brain so that epilepsy signals cannot travel across—from the side stricken with encephalitis to the healthy side. Removing those connections neutralizes the seizures.

If the surgery worked—as it does 90% of the time—Buddy’s brain would still experience electrical activity that would be picked by an EEG, but he would not feel it, nor could the seizures do him any more harm. In effect, they would be firing blanks.

“If you put an EEG on a person who’s had a disconnection,” Dr. Agurs says, “that EEG’s going to look like he’s having seizures, but I shouldn’t see the patient have any clinical manifestation of them. They’re not spreading from one side of the brain to the other.

“Zero seizures is the operation’s goal,” she says. “Alive and zero seizures. That’s the gold standard.”

When the brain turns on itself

As rare as Rasmussen’s encephalitis is—estimated at 2 cases for every 10 million people—Dr. Agurs, an epileptologist at CHLA’s Neurological Institute, had seen it several times by the time she received Buddy’s case. “I have three or four patients who have it currently,” she says.

“There’s a lot of encephalitis,” she explains. “Rasmussen’s falls into the category of autoimmune encephalitis. Something triggers your cells’ antibodies to attack its own brain, and you can’t always find the reason why.”

Plus, there’s no stopping it. Agurs says one of the indicators for Rasmussen’s encephalitis is progressive atrophy of the brain, which was visible on Buddy’s imaging.

“You get two MRIs three months apart and you’re thinking, ‘Why is the brain smaller?’ It had already happened. He’d had some brain shrinkage already.”

He exhibited the telltale motor deficits of brain degeneration, which are typically experienced on the opposite side of where the seizures occur. So it was with Buddy. The strength in his right leg declined to where he could no longer stand upright.

“He was stumbling everywhere,” Kristen says. “He couldn’t hold his balance.”

His language ability worsened as well. Independent of the encephalitis, Buddy suffered from autism, limiting his speech to one-word sentences, which now came out in a slurred slow motion.

CHLA neurosurgeon Jason Chu, MD, MSc, says Rasmussen’s encephalitis needs to be acted upon early before it erodes so much of a child’s brain that the brain’s growth is stunted and may even regress. Importantly, a central trait of a young child’s brain is its neuroplasticity—a limberness that allows the brain to adapt to a new weakness and gradually autocorrect, as the healthy areas take on the work of the injured part.

“As we get older, our brain starts to solidify in very specific areas,” Dr. Chu says. “But in younger patients, the good side can actually pick up a lot of the functions from the diseased side.”

Disabling the pathways

Disconnecting the brain’s two hemispheres, however, has “trade-offs,” Dr. Chu says. He explained to the family that the procedure would bear significant physical and mental impairments, and a need for extensive therapy to restore those areas. One consequence of the procedure that could not be recovered would be the loss of his right field of vision, opposite where the nerve fibers would be cut.

“That’s a very difficult conversation to have and can be very scary for families,” Dr. Chu says. “But we’re talking about an operation that has a really high chance of curing the epilepsy—never having a seizure again for the rest of your life.”

Kristen quickly gave her approval for the surgery, looking toward the recovery. “Let’s get it over with so we can work on the deficits post-op,” she recalls thinking. “I want to get my son back.”

But she shared Paul’s fears. “It’s brain surgery. What if they don’t cut enough? What if they cut too much? What if they cut in the wrong spot, and what if my son doesn’t come out of it?”

Meanwhile, Paul read up on Rasmussen’s encephalitis. He overcame his reluctance after he learned what “a monster” the disease is, he says. “I still have Google tabs open right now on my laptop from back when I was looking up the condition. I didn’t want to feel selfish. I didn’t want to be the reason he didn’t get better.”

The experience of their doctors reassured them both, the result of working in a Level 4 epilepsy center, the highest designation of expertise awarded to a hospital. “They sat us down and said, ‘This is not the first time we’ve seen this,’” Kristen says. “Dr. Chu was like, ‘I just did this surgery not too long ago. You’re the third patient to come into the PICU with Rasmussen’s encephalitis.’”

The hemispherectomy was performed Oct. 7, 2022. Scheduled for 12 hours, it went 13—a surgeon’s dozen. Dr. Chu and his team removed all the connections between the two halves of Buddy’s brain, preventing the left side from transmitting seizures over to the right.

“If you leave anything connected, seizures will still get across and you will have wasted your time,” Dr. Agurs says.

Paul describes the outcome succinctly: “They went in and cut my kid’s brain in half and saved his life.”

An unexpected gesture

For the first weeks after the procedure, Buddy did not talk, nor could he move the right half of his body. But Dr. Chu had warned of this outcome beforehand and said the deficits would not last.

“He gave us the rundown,” Kristen says. “‘This is what you need to expect coming out of surgery. It’s going to take him a while to get back up, but just be there for him, continue doing what you’re doing, and he’ll be OK.’”

So it was, as after a month Buddy’s speech returned. “Not full sentences, but he was saying his one-word phrases again,” Kristen says.

Fifteen months since, Buddy’s progress is dramatic. As was hoped, the plasticity of his young brain has worked in his favor, the right side seeming to absorb what had been the tasks of the left—and in Dr. Agurs’ view, at a much higher level.

“After doing his assessment, we assumed that his language has moved itself over,” she says. “Seeing him in clinic now, I think his language and his ability to communicate have gotten vastly better since his surgery. He’s much more verbal than he was.”

And certainly more blunt. “A couple of days ago,” Kristen says, “he was watching TV and I went to play with him, and he says, ‘Hey, I can’t see.’ So he’s speaking clearly now.”

Physically, Buddy has also adapted. A natural righty, he has learned to be left-handed. He limps and wears leg braces, but they don’t conceal his recovery. Asked if he’s walking, Kristen goes one better: “He’s running.”

Dr. Agurs and Dr. Chu marvel at his improvement, having watched Buddy march around the clinic in October. “He couldn’t even stand on his own last year when he was having seizures,” she says. “A lot of things recover really well after a hemispherectomy, especially when you’re under the age of 6.”

The most important post-op finding, of course, was the immediate and complete elimination of Buddy’s seizures. The doctors don’t expect them to return. But Kristen can’t keep from reacting to the smallest sudden gesture.

J

“As happy and hopeful as I am, I always have that doubt in the back of my mind,” she says. “That feeling never goes away. Say he twitches in his sleep or does any little movement, I still flinch. I’m day to day, and I don’t think that’ll ever change.”

There was one unexpected gesture that brought not anxiety, but instead astonishment and joy. One day while on a drive, Paul told his son that he loved him, and Buddy answered back with a complete sentence he had never said before: “I love you.”

“I don’t know why he said it back,” Paul says. “Maybe he just felt safe and comfortable.”

When Dr. Agurs heard about it later, it moved her to tears.

“I always feel so bad for Paul,” she says, noting Paul’s regret over initially delaying the surgery. “He always says, ‘I shouldn’t have waited.’ I told him, ‘It’s OK. We got it done, right? We got it done.’”

His Boca Grande, FL Property

Tucker Carlson, the conservative commentator and one of the most popular personalities on Fox News, has recently made headlines with his departure from the network. This news comes shortly after Fox reportedly agreed to pay Dominion Voting Systems a $787 million settlement, even though Dominion’s voting devices have been criticized for their substantial vulnerabilities. Amidst this professional turmoil, Carlson has decided to invest in a remarkable home in Florida, expanding his real estate portfolio in the upscale Boca Grande community. |  VIDEO

Tucker Carlson’s New Property: A $5.5 Million Paradise

Carlson’s latest acquisition in Boca Grande is an impressive property that cost a whopping $5.5 million. This new purchase is situated right next door to his existing vacation home, which he bought for $2.9 million three years ago. The single-story house was built in 1969, sits on a 0.28-acre lot, and spans 2,812 square feet. It features three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a U-shaped layout, which is perfect for creating a sense of openness while also maintaining a cozy atmosphere, and offering ample living space for the Carlson family and their guest. The house is designed to maximize natural light, creating a bright and inviting interior, with a fantastic exterior for outside entertaining.

The Boca Grande community is a low-key yet upscale neighborhood in Florida, known for attracting sports, showbiz, and political luminaries. Notable figures such as Katharine Hepburn, Harrison Ford, George H.W. Bush, Jason Garrett, and Tom Brokaw have all been known to rent or own vacation homes on the low-lying barrier island. The property is located close to pristine beaches, allowing the residents to enjoy the beautiful Florida coast and indulge in water sports and other outdoor activities.

The surrounding lush tropical foliage adds to the sense of tranquility and privacy in the area. This feature is particularly appealing for someone like Tucker Carlson, who is looking for a sanctuary away from the public eye.

While there are limited details available about the property’s interior, it is likely to be well-appointed, given its price and location. High-quality finishes, spacious living areas, and an updated kitchen would be expected in a home of this caliber.

In addition to the main house, the property may also feature outdoor living spaces, such as a patio or a deck, perfect for entertaining guests and enjoying the warm Florida weather. A swimming pool could is a natural part of the property, providing a private oasis for relaxation and recreation.

In summary, Tucker Carlson’s new home in Boca Grande is an impressive property that offers a luxurious lifestyle in a prestigious community. Its spacious layout, prime location, and beautiful surroundings make it an ideal retreat for those seeking privacy and tranquility amidst the Florida paradise. The homes of some of Tucker’s neighbors have sold for as much as $15 million.

Florida’s Real Estate Market: A Haven for Celebrities and Public Figures

The Florida real estate market has long been a favored destination for celebrities and public figures seeking a luxurious escape from their busy lives. The warm climate, beautiful beaches, and relaxed atmosphere make it the perfect location for a second home or vacation property. Additionally, Florida’s lack of a state income tax and relatively low property taxes make it an attractive option for wealthy individuals.

As a conservative commentator and TV personality, Tucker Carlson has established himself as a prominent figure in the political and media landscape. His decision to invest in a second Boca Grande property is a testament to the area’s appeal and his appreciation for the laid-back, exclusive community.

Dominion Voting Systems: A Controversial Topic in the Media

Tucker Carlson’s departure from Fox News came shortly after the network reportedly agreed to pay Dominion Voting Systems a $787 million settlement. Dominion’s voting devices have faced criticism for their substantial vulnerabilities, and the company has been at the center of controversy since the 2020 U.S. presidential election.

The legal battle between Fox News and Dominion Voting Systems has been a heated topic in the media, with many questioning the network’s decision to settle the lawsuit. Despite the vulnerabilities associated with Dominion’s voting devices, Fox News opted to resolve the dispute and move forward.

Tucker Carlson’s Departure from Fox News: A Turning Point in His Career

Tucker Carlson’s exit from Fox News marks a turning point in his career, with many speculating about his future plans. The timing of his new property purchase in Florida could signal a desire for a change in pace or a retreat from the public eye. However, given his long-standing career in the media, it’s unlikely that Carlson will stay out of the spotlight for long. |  COMMENT

Public Response to New Home

Tucker Carlson’s recent purchase of the property in Florida has sparked various reactions on the Internet. Some speculate that Carlson may be planning to follow in the footsteps of Rush Limbaugh by starting a syndicated podcast, while others believe the acquisition was timed to coincide with his firing from Fox News. The Florida property has also drawn attention to the area’s appeal to high-profile figures, with some readers praising the “old Florida” style of the homes. However, the discussion also includes politically charged comments, with some readers voicing their support for Carlson, others against him. Opinions on Carlson’s presence in Boca Grande are mixed, with some expressing their admiration for the TV personality, while others claim he is not well-liked in the area.

The Future of Tucker Carlson: What Lies Ahead?

As one of the most popular personalities on Fox News, Tucker Carlson has built a dedicated following and an influential platform. His departure from the network raises questions about his next moves in the media and political landscape. Will he join another network or launch his own independent venture? Only time will tell.

In the meantime, Carlson’s new Florida property serves as a luxurious sanctuary, offering privacy and relaxation amidst the uncertainty surrounding his career. With its remarkable features and prime location in the prestigious Boca Grande community, it’s no wonder that theformer Fox News personality chose to invest in this impressive home.

The Impact of Tucker Carlson’s Departure on Fox News

Carlson’s departure from Fox News is not only a significant event in his career but also a potential turning point for the network itself. As a popular and influential commentator, Carlson has contributed significantly to the network’s ratings and overall success. The absence of such a prominent figure will inevitably impact Fox News’ viewership and could potentially lead to shifts in programming and strategy.

In recent years, Fox News has faced increased competition from other conservative news outlets, such as Newsmax and One America News Network (OAN). Losing a high-profile personality like Carlson may create opportunities for these competitors to gain a larger share of the conservative news audience.

A New Chapter for Tucker Carlson and Fox News

Tucker Carlson’s departure from Fox News and his recent investment in a luxurious Florida property mark the beginning of a new chapter for both the former host and the network. While his future in the media remains uncertain, the purchase of a second Boca Grande home suggests that Carlson is looking to enjoy some downtime in the exclusive community.

As for Fox News, the network will need to adapt to the loss of one of its most popular personalities and find ways to maintain its strong presence in the conservative media landscape. With the ever-changing nature of the media industry, it will be interesting to see how both Tucker Carlson and Fox News evolve in the coming months and years.

In the meantime, Carlson’s new property offers an insight into the lifestyle of one of America’s most well-known conservative commentators. With its stunning design, spacious layout, and prime location in the upscale Boca Grande community, the home serves as a fitting retreat for someone looking to take a break from the public eye and enjoy the finer things in life. |  COMMENT

Corey Chambers Interview

REAL ESTATE NEWS (Los Angeles, CA) — We asked ChatGPT AI to write 10 interview questions for a newspaper reporter to ask Corey Chambers broker in Los Angeles. With artificial intelligence, we will fire the human news reporter, and just do the interview ourselves. Here are the ten news interview questions for notable L.A. Realtor® Corey Chambers: |  VIDEO

Can you share some insights into your journey as a real estate broker in Los Angeles and what inspired you to choose this profession?

It started at the age of three, when my mother let me run free-range all around L.A. Area neighborhoods (Compton, Lynwood, Norwalk, Downey, Long Beach and Los Angeles) by myself as a young child. I survived. Now I’m running around Downtown and all over Southern California, helping home sellers, buyers, renters, landlords and investors to survive and thrive in any neighborhood, any market and any economic climate.

How do you think the Los Angeles real estate market has evolved over the years, and what are some current trends you’ve observed?

As the most diverse and creative city, Los Angeles has the third largest metropolitan economy in the world. The local real estate market added a large number of amazing conversion live/work lofts with tremendous character from 2000 to 2012. More recently, ADU Accessory Dwelling Units have become legalized, providing new opportunities for property owners to improve their long-term finances with rental income. Today, prices are lower than they were 5 months ago, giving home buyers and investors an improved opportunity to find just the right home, along with a special deal.

What challenges and opportunities do you see in the LA real estate market, particularly in the downtown area?

The biggest challenges of Downtown Los Angeles real estate include the current price drops, which could possibly dip into negative equity for some owners. Also, the homeless and mentally ill situation is not fully contained, contributing to crime that is higher than many other large cities. The relatively low downtown condo prices present an opportunity to pick up a bargain.

As a real estate expert, can you share your thoughts on the impact of remote work and the pandemic on the residential and commercial property markets in Los Angeles?

I’m doing more marketing and sales presentations by Zoom and phone, fewer in-person showings. I’ve always communicated my thoughts honestly on the exaggerated pandemic and the ignored downsides of lockdown and forced vaccines. I have also been careful to follow the rules presented by the state, local government, industry and home owners. Remote work is great, but there is not always a replacement for in-person meeting to build strong relationships.

What advice do you have for first-time homebuyers or investors looking to enter the Los Angeles real estate market?

The current market may offer new opportunities in the form of seller carry financing, and extra incentives for cash buyers. Sellers may also offer to help buyers with an interest rate buy-down, and may pay for buyer’s closing costs.

How has technology changed the way you conduct business, and what role do you see technology playing in the future of the real estate industry?

In my 12+ years of real estate, we’ve gone from tall stacks of paperwork to a nearly 100% paperless office. For each property listing that we do, my team provides one or more videos, so that prospective home buyers can see almost the entire home before driving to the property. The internet is empowering home buyers to find more properties themselves, while also helping tech-savvy real estate professionals to provide more information about properties online. The entire real estate process can be done faster, with better communication, saving a lot of time for everyone.

Can you share a success story or a particularly memorable transaction that highlights your approach to helping clients find their dream home or investment property?

Yes, It’s always a delight when we help a home seller to sell the property much faster, and for much more money. One seller was delighted to receive about $60,000 more than she was asking for, when we sold her Alta loft condo for her.

What are some key factors that set you apart from other real estate brokers in the Los Angeles area, and how do you ensure your clients receive the best service possible?

The Corey Chambers Team is known for guaranteeing our work. Most real estate professionals will never use that word because they don’t know how to guarantee anything. We guarantee home sales, guarantee top dollar for home sellers, and even guarantee to save money for home buyers. Today, we consider a 5-star review to be our primary compensation. The five star reviews are considered the priority and the main focus for our motivation and career success.

How do you stay informed about the latest market trends, zoning regulations, and development projects in the city to better serve your clients?

Publishing the most popular residential real estate blog post articles for Downtown Los Angeles and LA lofts, the L.A. Loft Blog, we talk to people every day about what is going on with zoning, regulations and new development projects. We also produce the monthly Downtown Los Angeles Real Estate Market report, with pricing, data and trends for DTLA and neighboring loft communities.

Lastly, what do you envision for the future of the Los Angeles real estate market, and how are you preparing yourself and your clients for the upcoming changes in the industry?

If the city and state can reverse the recent trends of rising crime, exploding taxes, runaway regulations and exodus flight of the population to other states, the City of Los Angeles has an extremely bright future for real estate. The Corey Chambers team is leading the way toward the future as we research, develop and implement the newest real estate tools, including: AI Artificial Intelligence for marketing and property matching; crypto blockchain for real estate, a real estate DAO Distributed Autonomous Organization, our own Entar Coin cryptocurrency to help real estate; virtual real estate, real estate smart contracts, digital real estate and real estate NFTs. These are some of the building blocks of the new trillion dollar real estate company of the future that we are creating, to be called Entar®.

Why I Support Children’s Hospital Los Angeles:

I grew up right here in the Los Angeles area. Born at St. Francis Hospital. When I first heard about a young person close to our family suffering from a life-threatening disease and getting treated for that at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. It was then that I began to pay more immediate attention to their work at that hospital. Since then, I have learned that it is a collection of hard-working health care professionals, most making their home right here in the Los Angeles area, all coming together for a common cause. That cause is to help young people overcome unfortunate health issues that life sometimes throws our way.

Being in the Los Angeles area, a California native, I take pride in supporting so that I can do the good work these people do at Children’s. My team rallies around our annual goal of raising money and donating portions of our income to help Children’s in their quest to heal young people when they need healing. My team and I are committed to providing outstanding results for buyers and sellers referred to us by our past clients. I have discovered that Children’s Hospital Los Angeles shares similar commitments to their patients. And since their services survive on sponsorships and donations, we are happy to contribute and proud to support them.

Over the years our team has helped our friends, family, clients to buy, sell or lease a home, we have met some wonderful, loving, caring people.

People like you!

So your referrals can be assured that not only will they get the award-winning service we are known for but also the guarantee to back it up, but that a solid portion of the income we receive will go toward a very worthy cause.

Oliver Is ‘A Whole Different Kid’ After Kidney Transplant

At nearly 3½ years old, Oliver loves superhero characters, his big sister Emelia, and playing the drums while singing all the words to “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.” — by Candace Pearson

It’s impressive considering that Oliver has already undergone 15 surgeries at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in his young life—and has come through them so cheerfully that his nurses nicknamed him “Mr. Happy.”

Oliver’s parents Violet and Lionel first discovered that their unborn child was in trouble during a routine prenatal scan. “There was a big black hole on the ultrasound—it was very scary,” Violet recalls. “His bladder had expanded so much it was crushing him.”

In utero, Oliver was found to have a large bladder filled with urine but no amniotic fluid surrounding the baby. Ramen H. Chmait, MD, Director of Los Angeles Fetal Surgery at CHLA and USC, inserted a shunt into his bladder aimed at decompressing the bladder, normalizing the amniotic fluid volume and improving his lung growth, thereby improving the chances of survival. The procedure was successful, but was not a long-term solution.

Help on the way

But lucky for Oliver, a multidisciplinary dream team existed at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to treat him as soon as he was born.

While Violet was pregnant, she and Lionel met with Evalynn Vasquez, MD, MBA, Associate Chief of the Division of Urology and Director of the Complex Reconstruction and Malformations Program. Later, others joined Oliver’s care team, including Rachel Lestz, MD, MHS, Clinical Director of Pediatric Nephrology and Medical Director of the Pediatric Kidney Transplant Program; Rachel Goldstein, MD, Director of the Hip Preservation Program; Melinda Chang, MD, an attending physician in Ophthalmology; and Kambiz Etesami, MD, Surgical Director of Kidney and Intestinal Transplantation.

The team also included intensive care specialists, neurologists, transplant coordinators, specialized nurses, occupational and speech therapists, Child Life specialists, social workers and more.

“It takes the entire hospital and all its resources to succeed in the care of our patients, especially a patient like Oliver, who’s had multiple services taking care of him,” says Dr. Vasquez. “We can’t exist in silos.”

Before Oliver was born, the experts at CHLA suspected he had Prune-Belly syndrome, also known as Eagle-Barrett syndrome, which is characterized by partial or complete absence of abdominal muscles, failure of the testes to descend and urinary tract malformations. The condition gets its name from the wrinkled, prune-like appearance of the skin on the newborn’s stomach. About 95% of cases involve boys. But the condition can’t be definitively diagnosed until after birth.

“The clues were there,” says Dr. Vasquez. “Oliver stopped making amniotic fluid, essentially baby urine, which tells you how well his bladder and kidneys are working.”

A plan quickly unfolded. Violet would give birth at Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital, next door to CHLA, then the baby would be immediately transferred to the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation Newborn and Infant Critical Care Unit (NICCU) at CHLA.

A baby arrives

When Oliver came into the world July 23, 2019, his diagnosis was confirmed. His dad accompanied him to the NICCU, while his mom left her maternity room the following morning, telling nurses, “I’ve got to go meet my son.”

“Initially, our goals for Oliver were the same as for any baby,” says Dr. Lestz, “appropriate nutrition for growth and development.”

Oliver’s left kidney never functioned. His right kidney was working but didn’t have enough filters to do its jobs of removing waste. He had other complications, too, including a mild case of cerebral palsy, a weakness on the left side of his body and hip dysplasia, an abnormality of the hip joint.

Meanwhile, his parents were adjusting to their new reality. “I had to change my perspective and stop asking why this happened,” says Violet. “We had to help Oliver live his best life, whatever that looks like, and celebrate the small wins. Oliver needed us. Emelia needed us. Life had to move forward.”

And so it did. At just 3 weeks old, Oliver had his first surgery, as Dr. Vasquez created an opening between his abdominal wall and bladder to drain it and prevent further harm to his kidneys.

Other surgeries and procedures followed, including hip surgery at 1½ years old and strabismus surgery to help his misaligned eyes look the same direction at the same time. With his flaccid abdominal muscles, Oliver’s bladder had nothing to press against, making it difficult to empty on its own. He was unable to safely eat by mouth, so required a feeding tube to his stomach.

Defying the odds

Yet, all the while, Oliver was growing—and charming his caregivers. At times, Oliver got to return home with his family, but spent much of his first year as an inpatient at CHLA. The hospital was “our second home,” says his mom.

In 2022, Oliver’s doctors agreed it was time for a preemptive kidney transplant—before his one good kidney deteriorated to the point where he would need dialysis to take over its normal filtering task.

“Dialysis can be lifesaving, but it is life-altering as well,” explains Dr. Lestz. “Preemptive transplants result in better transplant outcomes.” Avoiding dialysis would improve Oliver’s life expectancy.

Oliver’s mother was very interested in providing a donor kidney for her son. “Violet was very, very compatible—only one mismatch, which is about as good as it gets,” says Dr. Lestz.

“Recipients of kidneys from living donors tend to do better,” says Dr. Etesami, Oliver’s transplant surgeon. “A kidney can be from a parent—or even an unrelated person—but as long as it is immunologically compatible, having a living donor is preferable.” The close match meant there was a better chance that Oliver’s body would not reject his new kidney.

Although Oliver had multiple medical issues, Dr. Etesami was confident about moving ahead with the surgery. “At CHLA, we have continued to make advances in transplant surgery, allowing us to operate on the smallest and sickest kids like Oliver.”

On March 9, 2022, three teams were at the ready—a transplant team at Keck Hospital of USC, which would remove one of Violet’s kidneys; a urology team a CHLA led by Dr. Vasquez that would remove Oliver’s nonfunctioning kidney to make room for his new kidney and manage his bladder, and a transplant team at CHLA led by Dr. Etesami.

After Dr. Etesami navigated around some scarring from Oliver’s previous surgeries, he placed Violet’s donated kidney inside Oliver’s belly, a common strategy in infants. He then attached it to blood vessels and the ureter to the bladder.

Welcome! A new Oliver

After a few days of recovery in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Oliver bloomed. “He was a whole different kid,” his mom says, “with energy and zest for life.” He quickly began pulling himself up in his crib to stand and taking sideways “cruises.”

Today, Oliver’s new kidney is functioning well. His progress is being monitored closely and Oliver still spends time as an inpatient at CHLA. Thanks to the transplant, however, Oliver is growing and thriving in ways that he never could have done before the surgery.

At around a year post-transplant, Oliver’s medical team will determine when he might undergo abdominal reconstruction to shore up his core strength. Developmentally advanced, always smiling, curly-haired Oliver still has mobility issues, but he is working on them with a team of specialized therapists including ones focused on physical therapy, speech and feeding.

Oliver’s mom and dad appreciate that his doctors treat them as partners in his ongoing care and development. Equally important, Violet says, “every person who works at CHLA cares deeply. And they don’t just care about the patient, they care about the parents, too.”

While the U.S. confronts stagflation, communist China tries to hide massive real estate crash.

REAL ESTATE NEWS (Los Angeles, CA) — While real estate in the U.S. and other western countries crashes up today due to inflation, China’s real estate market was so extremely overbuilt that its prices are now tumbling dramatically. The communist regime does not release honest statistics, thus the books of western companies doing business in China provide the only accurate picture of China’s true economy. Recent new lockdowns also reveal the true story. The regime of nutcase dictatorship is seriously worried about recent bad economic results, thus uses today’s most convenient of scapegoats: covid hysteria. Today, China resembles a bizarre, frightening communist lockdown prison. Hellish! |  VIDEO

China a real estate hell.

The real estate market is still hot in many U.S. areas as families and investors all scramble to buy physical assets that can greatly hedge against runaway inflation, and protect against a falling dollar. In many other U.S. markets, a quiet crash or softening is already taking place, unreported in the news, and obscured by inflation. Indeed, a stagnating overall economy, Greater Depression of the 2020s, has been hidden behind a curtain of inflation for several years. One thing that can pierce the veil is a truly committed, rapid-acting Fed, which we don’t have while interest rates are still near historic lows, and government spending and money printing are still near historic highs. Concealed stagnation, government overspending and ballooning hyperinflation are still the name of the game for real estate and most other markets in the United States. Governments worldwide are failing to address the real issues, as they rely on fear and distraction, amid calls for optimism.

What is going to be the cure or the weapon that beats hyperinflation? The US Dollar is a goner for many reasons: The Fed is not keeping pace, and will not keep pace required to beat hyperinflation; the overused, abused US Dollar is losing its global dominance as the monetary standard; the dollar is being replaced by blockchain cryptocurrencies — and good money destroys bad. In addition to optimism, individuals, families and companies must own physical assets that perform well during inflation and stagnation, such as real estate, gold, farm land, blockchain cryptocurrencies, quality stocks, technology patents etc.

A worldwide economic depression began in April of 2020. China and the U.S. lead the way in the latest “cures”: denial, deception and cover-up. The key difference between U.S. thin veil of real estate health, and China’s undeniably poignant real estate crash: the unprecedented level of ponzi-scheme activities in China real estate vs the more moderated, varied markets of America. The U.S. does have its own looming ponzi crash coming: the end of the global hegemony of the U.S. Dollar, amid emerging general demise of fiat currencies. Unlike communist China’s housing implosion, real estate in the U.S. today still provides an effective shield against these economic threats.

China communist party uses deceptive zero-covid policy to hide the largest real estate crash in history.

The month of November brings about an extra opportunity to say Thank You for being a valuable part of our business. As most begin to prepare for the Holiday season, plan Thanksgiving get-togethers and the like, it’s easy to become wrapped up in all that we have to do to ensure a fun, joyful time for all we are responsible for — while overlooking all that we have to be thankful for. Gratitude, though, is a contagious attitude!

Unfortunately, many homeowners are desperate to exit their current homes. Actually, loathing this time of year adds to the frustration of not being settled for the Holidays. You may know someone or a family that fits this description.

Here is where you and I can HELP!

AND remember… YOUR referrals help the kids.

Therefore, our Mission is to Go Serve Big!!! Serve you, serve those you refer to us and of course, serve a great cause.

As a result of working with many families over the years, we have developed a unique program to help the homeowners wanting to make a move and Sell Fast, For Top Dollar, and with the Least Hassle!

For November, we will guarantee, in writing, the sale of an area home for 100% of Market Value, or I will Pay the Difference.

I know there is some risk on my part to make such an incredible guarantee like that. Still, we sell just about every home we list for the market value price, sometimes even more. So there is no reason for area homeowners, your friends, and your family to fret about selling right now.

This is where you can help!

If you or anyone you know is considering making a move, we offer them a FREE Consultation. We will show them in this No Obligation to Move Consultation how they can make their move. Thus, allowing them to get what they want and do it with the least hassle.

Just like we are thankful for you and your business, I am confident your referrals will be thanking you for steering them in the right direction on getting their home sold!!!

AND remember… Your referrals help the kids.

#CHLA #www.referralshelpkids.com

Your Referrals Help the Kids. For every referral I receive, I donate a portion to the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. With your referrals, you are helping Children’s Hospital ensure that critical life-saving care is available to every child they treat. http://www.ReferralsHelpKids.com

Your referrals help kids!

We are still boldly on a mission to raise $25,000 for Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles this year, and we are getting close! We do this by donating to them a portion of our income from homes we sell. As you know, CHLA does AMAZING work in helping kids fight through and survive nasty diseases like cancer, Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, leukemia, and others. They also lead the way in many other fields.

They can provide this care and keep patient costs to a minimum due in large part to and Donations and Sponsorships. We are proud to be an official sponsor of Children’s!

Why I support Childrenʼs Hospital, Los Angeles

I grew up in the Greater Los Angeles Area, born in Los Angeles County at St. Francis Hospital. When I first heard about a young person close to our family suffering from a nasty disease and getting treated for that at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Eighty-one thousand dollars may sound like a lot, but, in the realm of possibilities, it’s a drop in the bucket. In fact, Loft Blog readers who took a bold step based on a previous article each made more than $5 million with little effort. While millions have already taken advantage, most aren’t even sure where to start, how to get Bitcoin, where to store it safely, when to sell, how to gain a profit while minimizing risks.

Corey Chambers Los Angeles

While focusing on real estate investments, and employing blockchain technology knowledge part-time, Corey Chambers has helped a variety of individuals to make more than $8 million from Bitcoin transactions over the past eight years. The world’s most popular and proven cryptocurrency has gained more than 8.9 million percent in the last ten years. Book Synopsis, Report, Review and Notes by Corey Chambers

VIDEO

Why do most real estate agents fail to thrive? This book for entrepreneurs explains why most small businesses don’t work, and what to do about it. The problem is best summed up by Gerber’s definition of the word:

E-Myth \ ‘e-,’mith\ n 1: the entrepreneurial myth: the myth that most people who start small businesses are entrepreneurs 2: the fatal assumption that an individual who understands the technical work of a business can successfully run a business that does that technical work

Voted #1 business book by Inc. 500 CEOs, this book dispels false beliefs about starting a business. Based on the experience of small business consultant and author, Michael’s succinct tome explains why technical expertise often gets in the way of business success.

Most entrepreneurs must make a tough decision, a choice between doing the technical work that one loves, or the entrepreneurial activities that one may love just as much. Doing both usually creates a Jack of all trades, and a master of none. In a competitive marketplace, mastering one is necessary to stay in business, compete and prosper.

Citing experiences of entrepreneurs during the 70s, 80s and 90s, this non-fiction business book, revised in 1995, exhorts people to develop powerful visions for their companies. Readers have reported results: freeing up several hours a day, significantly increasing sales, allowing business owners to take their first vacation in four years.

Michael E Gerber founded and ran the Michael Thomas Corporation in Carlsbad, California and across the United States of America.

One excellent example of a prospective reader is the real estate agent, who must study to obtain a license, gain local real estate knowledge, learn sales, marketing and agency. This is ideally three or four different positions filled by four or more team members. Add accounting, management, inside sales, outside sales, database and computer maintenance, human resources and other necessary positions, it is easy to see why most real estate agents fail. Most never attract more than 0-2 transactions per year. They find that they cannot quit their day jobs. Their entrepreneurial dreams are crushed because they do not have the expertise, specialization and efficiency that comes with focused, skilled labor.

Would you rather do the work, or would you rather run the business. Choose just one. Which one would you prefer to focus on. Which one would you prefer to delegate to someone else? What will create more success for the business? What will create more happiness for you?

The book focuses on the basic conflict between the entrepreneur’s technical side (the real estate agent) and the business side (the administrator/manager). One-man operations generally cannot grow successfully. For most entrepreneurs of all kinds, including real estate agents, substantial profits and great success become a possibility only after the entrepreneur finds a partner who is perfect to take over either the technical side or management side, then hires a complete staff to handle all of the critical positions with focus, dedication, maximum skill and efficiency.

Mass Hysteria and The Real Estate Market

My Uncle Lonnie Hall and Cousin Gavin Hall, victims of 2020 mass hysteria.

VIDEO

If a nurse has reported a recent 100% death rate following the therapy that she has been giving to large numbers of patients, should she continue to provide the same morbidly unsuccessful therapy? What if her hospital is getting paid extra to provide the proven deadly therapy, while she is also being protected from any adverse consequences of her actions. What if the nurse benefits from the poor results, without risk of penalty to her own career or finances? What if patients are not provided adequate opportunity to get a second opinion regarding these deadly procedures? What if nobody is allowed to criticize or question this deadly therapy?

The Loft Blog has been warning of respiratory disease — and harmful overreaction — for well over 18 months. The following is my own true story as it relates to the “biggest fraud ever to be perpetrated on an unsuspecting public.” Fraud comes in many forms, some subtle. When the public is led toward panic, while being led away from informed consent, that is fraud.

Why is a real estate broker talking about health care? For several reasons: Previously, I have not been limited to real estate; I’ve been a U.S. Air Force data specialist, and also a medical device marketing specialist and health industry writer. As a journalist to this day, I have a responsibility to report all truth that affects DTLA real estate. I’m still known by some as an experienced medical device marketing professional. I should write about covid ventilator deaths because I am among the few who can. Active licensed medical practitioners are today being fired for telling the truth. In general, they are not allowed to provide you with any information that may differ from that which big pharma orders them to say. I have the data, experience and capacity, and I have no risk of losing a medical license, because medical marketing specialists need no license. Other reasons why I write this: Mass hysteria has directly affected real estate, primarily in urban neighborhoods like Downtown Los Angeles, along with other major metropolitan areas now experiencing economic losses and increasing crime related to panic, fear and related re-suburbanization. Most importantly, because I happen to have sets of very relevant experience, personal and professional. In a marketing career spanning nearly 50 years, I’ve helped to market, advertise and sell medical equipment, including Newport NMI ventilators. I’m very concerned when I hear numbers of respiratory therapists dramatically express their concerns that they are being ordered to kill covid patients by using improper procedures and protocols.

Working directly with RT Respiratory Therapists and ventilator manufacturers, I’ve learned that ventilators are nothing to sneeze at. They are one of the most critical, life-or-death medical technologies on the planet. They breathe for people who cannot breathe for themselves. If the patient is suffering respiratory distress, can breathe for themselves, but are not registering a specific questionable level of oxygen, doctors will often paralyze the patient’s airway so that the patient can no longer swallow, cough or breathe. If the intubated patient does not receive sufficient attention, if the therapy is improper, or if the machine is set to the wrong setting, the patient dies. If the therapy is not quite perfect, the patient dies. If the patient has a very bad cold or pneumonia, where the patient has liquid or phlegm in the lungs that must be expectorated (normal for a bad cold or flu), the patient on a ventilator cannot expectorate, cannot achieve proper oxygen levels, thus suffers a stunningly high chance of death. Therapists have been ordered, and some are still being ordered, to crank up the ventilation pressure higher and higher, even though the therapist is fully aware that the patient shall deteriorate toward demise with this therapy.

Medical professionals bear no risk in providing these horrific procedures to Covid patients. The greedy, hasty medical culture of today is set up overwhelmingly in favor of treatment and over-treatment. Medical professionals are today only at risk if they fail to treat. They are protected if they over-treat, and they are harshly punished for disagreement or disobedience. In an era of intense censorship and massive pro-pharma propaganda, the careers and livelihoods of medical professionals are on the line if they tell the truth. Fortunately, more than one brave (and/or foolish) nurse, RT Respiratory Therapist and doctor has ventured to inform the public. A few have stepped forward to admit to the fear and horror involved with subjecting recent patients to a 100% chance of death through this highly fatal medical treatment. Many of the deaths are preventable simply by avoiding ineffective treatment. Professionals who use a more traditional approach, such as nasal cannula oxygen, report a much better than 50% survival rate. Patients who receive no treatment at all have often seen the best results. RTs have been trained to cajole the patient into ventilator therapy by telling the patient that they will die without the ventilator. The therapist knows, however, that the patient will likely die with the ventilator, up to a 100% chance of death by ventilator in recent instances. Concerned RTs have reported that, for most covid patents and oxygen, less is more. Due to today’s radical culture of rampant over-treatment, shockingly aggressive propaganda campaigns and extreme censorship, proper changes to respiratory care are not being promptly implemented.

Corey Chambers, Los Angeles

I have a unique vantage point from which to see the totality of pandemic hysteria. With a background in medical technologies, and with one of the largest databases in the real estate industry, I have unique access and communication with tens of thousands of individuals. In it, the number of young, totally healthy individuals who have died of today’s bad flu season is very close to zero. Compare this to historic epidemics, such as the Black Death bubonic plague of 1350, which killed nearly 1/3 of Europe. Today’s “plague” standards are artificially low — nothing remotely like an historic blood-borne plague that wiped out more than 30% of some populations in the past. The CDC reports that today’s airborne pathogen pandemic kills far less than 1% of the population — much closer to 0% of the population.

We’ve seen and heard of others who have have had covid, usually undetected, with mild symptoms or no symptoms at all, and several with very bad cold symptoms complicated by panic and made worse by over-treatment. A few whom we have heard of have actually passed away — mostly from old-age related diseases or hospital mistakes. These are not reasons to create more mistakes and to destroy more lives.

Put things into perspective. Compare 30%+ death rate of the Black Death to approximately 0% death rate for Covid-19. The most massive blood-borne pandemics in history killed many, but even the worst bugs could not kill 100% of the population. Today’s relatively very weak respiratory pandemic utterly lacks the deadliness of historic blood-borne pathogens. On top of that, respiratory viruses have always, always burned themselves out long before they could possibly kill a large percentage of the population. By any reasonable standards, the death rate is low, and respiratory viruses are NOT a significant threat to humanity. To verify this, look at the total excess death count, which is similar to previous bad flu years. Today’s total death count is in no way similar to Black Death years. In fact, Dr. Birx admitted to a “liberal” policy regarding comorbidity. She and the CDC admit that more than 94% of “covid” deaths are linked to other deadly diseases and other deadly pre-existing conditions. No matter how the profiteers try to hypeit up, covid is NOT the leading cause of death in the world today. The leading causes of death are today ignored, neglected in favor of the exciting disease du jour, Covid and its sparkling new variants. The real, leading causes of death are not only ignored, but actually encouraged — did you get your free donuts? But that’s not all! Coming soon: Get 10 free booster shots and 10 free donuts! What a deal! Or is it?

Unhealthy government propaganda and health care profession promotion of bad health is nothing new. Did you get plenty of DDT and fresh Camel cigarettes when they were promoted by the government and doctors decades ago? Did your great grandparents take their proper doses of snake oil, heroin and cocaine in the 1880s? How about shock treatment, leach or lobotomy, dissection of your brain to lift your spirits? They were all commonly promoted and prescribed by government, medical doctors and salesmen alike.

There was one questionable treatment device that might actually be even more appropriate and needed today: the hysteria vibrator. At least we know that the vibrator will not cause shoulder and arm injury SIRVA, guillain-barre syndrome GBS, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis ADEM, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura ITP, paralysis, permanent disability and death.

Take any reasonable glimpse of the negative effects of over-reaction: the devastation of urban centers with riots, crime and collapsing condo prices, the real deaths of countless unreported lockdown casualties, including my own Uncle Lonnie and Cousin Gavin, killed by lockdown depression; the countless untold stories of child suicide, worldwide starvation and other unreported horrors. Our government and healthcare industries have starkly refused to conduct even the most reasonable survey of the adverse health, economic and social consequences of lockdown and other government overreach.  Flipflop Fauciand others flatly refuse to count or consider the dire negative consequences of their actions. They refuse to account for deaths, disabilities, anxiety, accidents, riots, explosions, poverty, pollution and other suffering caused by overreactions that they have purposely frothed up to benefit their own profit and power. They ignore an 80% to 100% ventilator death rate. They ignore the destruction of millions of small businesses, devastation to the middle class and worldwide poverty. The perpetrators have thus far taken no responsibility for nonsensical overreactions and unbridled mass hysteria, which characterizes today’s ongoing pandemic of what good, honest doctors have sanely labeled a “bad flu season” — ethical doctorswho are being censored, threatened, harassed and fired like never before in history — for telling the truth.

If the medical industry is willing to continue to provide ventilation therapy with a 80%+ average death rate, imaging how high of a death rate they are willing to accept from experimental (and extremely profitablevaccinations? We already have some answers to this deadly question. Government and the health care industries have a long history of being astonishingly willing to accept a sky-high rate of deathand injury for therapies with little or no efficacy. Whenever the public allows it, government officials and the medical industries have a long history of being wrong, of promoting fraudulent epidemics with fraudulent cures. This is nothing new. Remember the Swine Flu vaccine fraud of 1976.

The absolutely atrocious percentage of ventilator deaths are only one example of countless instances of psychotic behaviors that make up today’s frantic stampede of mass hysteria. More than anything else, they want you to lose faith in your own body and its natural ability to benefit from trillions of viruses. They don’t want you to know that the very foundation of your health is based on beneficial bacteria and viruses. They only want you to know what fits the desired political narrative. Today, any news that doesn’t fit that narrative does not make it to the prime time news.

The human body is comprised of more bacteria cells and virions than human cells. We are bacterial and viral creatures. Medical doctors are only just barely beginning to learn of the very deadly consequence of antibiotics, which kill the body’s vital, natural ecology of beneficial bacteria. Thousands die every day from over-medication, over-treatment and inappropriate treatments — almost all covered up. Doctors routinely fail to warn patients of the true nature of side effects. The truth: take too much antibiotics and you may find yourself bleeding from every orifice because you haver killed your beneficial bacteria, thus invited the bad bacteria to take over. Most medical doctors receive very little education on viruses. The medical establishment and the public are today vastly uneducated, illiterate and profoundly uninformed about the vital nature of the human virome. Still wallowing in the victorian era, the health care industry is grossly uneducated and ignorant about the symbiotic relationship between humans, the common cold and countless other viruses. We are bacterial and viral creatures (along with yeast and many other vital creepy crawlies). You and I are made up of 380 trillion viruses. Colds and flu are part and parcel to humanity. Without colds and flu, there are no humans — and vice versa. With today’s medical technology, the only way to fully prevent bad flu seasons is to kill all humans. Today, we are allowing runaway quackery — false cures that are far worse than the disease.

Today’s ongoing crusade of mass hysteria sadly marches us all down the wrong path, the path to worsening health. Like the respiratory nurse who reports to lament her recent 100% ventilator death rate (yet keeps right on killing), the medical industry gets paid to provide us misinformation about our own bodies. The current state of public health emergency provides extra payment to hospitals, incentive to over-report and over-hype and extra incentive to kill us with ventilators.

The good doctors (who are being censored), try to remind us that viruses are part and parcel to our good health. They are being censored. They are unable to get to the truth. Our bodies are made to handle colds, flu and pneumonia, even as some unhealthy and elderly often naturally pass away of these illnesses. The bad doctors, who are presently in charge, peddle panic, obfuscate comorbidity and attempt to force experimental treatments and other improper therapies.

While it may be understandably difficult to tell when large numbers of people are behaving in a manner that is counter-productive, you can identify mass hysteria by these collective obsessional behaviors, crazes and abnormal group beliefs: 1. Based on panic or fear, large numbers of people take actions that may be detrimental to their own health, welfare and well-being; 2. Large numbers of people ignore, discourage or even hide information that may be beneficial to their own health and well-being, embracing censorship and propaganda from perceived leaders and charismatic figures; 3. Large numbers of people undertake unnatural actions, such as prolonged wearing of masks that reduce oxygen and increase consumption of human wastes including carbon dioxide etc; 4. Large numbers of people seeking medical treatment for symptoms that are normally treated at home, such as sniffles and cough, risking death from over-treatment and hospital mistakes; 5. Large numbers of people being misinformed that they are sick or at extreme risk of illness until they begin to believe it; following strange fads such as face masks; riots. Sound familiar?

Another reason why I write this article, from first-hand experience, is that I and healthy friends who I know, who have had the very bad cold, and let our bodies deal with it the natural, healthy way — we are all very much alive and stronger than ever. Some of those who had pre-existing conditions, overmedication or inappropriate medical treatments are dead. The tragic deaths of the few are then being exploited politically to increase medical tyranny, while the stories of millions and millions of healthy people, who have had the virus with little or no illness, are being covered up. Countless deaths caused by overmedication, pre-existing conditions, inappropriate medical procedures and hospital mistakes are likewise being covered up.

I know the good medical professionals. I’ve work with them for years. The good doctors are honest, they’re against hype and hysteria. The good doctors have good results. But, the good doctors are NOT presently in charge. Corrupt, inhuman corporate beasts control your health, along with their partners in crime, drooling power-hungry politicians, are in charge of the world’s health, in charge of Downtown Los Angeles real estate, in charge of your dwindling dollar value. As they forcefully deny us a second opinion, they admittedly snuff out 50% to 100% of the lives of ventilator patients, these corrupt creeps are increasingly in charge of our once-independent lives. They freely admit to caring zero, zilch about the casualties, the atrocities: depression, global poverty, injuries, deaths and disasters linked to their misdeeds. Corrupt politicians and their armies of greedy quacks will never willingly hand us back power and control.

Some say that the details of the pandemic are even more sinister and diabolical than we might imagine. Regardless of our varying beliefs, history shows that destruction of free speech ALWAYS leads to atrocities. If we wish to avoid denial of basic rights, among other lingering catastrophic consequences of medical tyranny, we MUST take back our God-given liberty and health, by all means necessary. — Corey Chambers, Los Angeles

Killing up to 100% of the most recent covid patients, ventilators are still being over-used today.

Downtown L.A. Property Market Update

The rich get richer while the poor get poorer in Downtown Los Angeles

REAL ESTATE NEWS |  Blog Video

Downtown Los Angeles loft condo prices dropped in May, compared to the same month last year. Many more sellers attempted to unload their properties last month, but homes are taking an average of 12 days longer to sell. L.A. urban home buyers can enjoy better deals as most condos dropped in price by $35,000 or more. While most home prices fell, some of the most attractive properties actually went up in price as the well-to-do paid extra for large units that have lots of natural light, views and private outdoor space. This bifurcation between Median Price and Average Price occurs as the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. These numbers provided by real estate professionals MLS Multiple Listing Service for Downtown Los Angeles and nearby loft neighborhoods 23, 42 and 1375.

Number of Listings May 2020: 195 | May 2021: 244

Average Days on Market May 2020: 63 | May 2021: 75

Median Price May 2020: $585,000 | May 2021: $550,000

Average Price May 2020: $676,850 | May 2021: $716,132

Why I support Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles

I grew up right here in the Greater Los Angeles Area, born in Los Angeles County at St. Francis Hospital. I remember when I first heard about a young person close to our family suffering from a nasty disease and getting treated for that at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Being a Los Angeles Area California native, I take pride in supporting in a way that I can the good work these people do at Children’s. My team rallies around our annual goal or raising money and donating portions of our income to help Children’s in their quest to heal young people when they need healing. My team and I are committed to providing outstanding results for buyers and sellers referred to us by our past clients. I have discovered that Children”s Hospital Los Angeles shares similar commitment to their patients. And since their services survive on sponsorships and donations, we are happy to contribute and proud to support them.

Sincerely,

Corey Chambers

A Young Actress’s Real-Life Drama

After surviving a freak accident and emergency surgery, ‘Station 19’s Lalia feels inspired to give back to others.  —  By Monica Rizzo

Life-and-death emergencies are commonplace on “Station 19,” the ABC drama where 12-year-old Lalia plays the childhood version of firefighter Andrea “Andy” Herrera. But in late October 2020, Lalia found herself in the middle of an emergency that looked like something that might be depicted on her show.

While playing on a swing with her grandfather, a metal plate that secured the swing to the front porch ceiling suddenly broke off.

“The swing came at her head like a bullet,” Lalia’s mom, Stacey, says. “We called 911 and when the ambulance arrived, she was conscious and talking, but she had lost a lot of blood.”

Medics worked furiously to stabilize her condition so they could transport her to the nearest hospital. Lalia’s skull was fractured and a nail from the swing attachment penetrated her brain. In addition to the large loss of blood, by the time she arrived at the emergency room near her home, Laila suffered a stroke and her brain began to swell.

To reduce swelling, surgeons performed a craniotomy, a procedure for patients who suffer a traumatic brain injury whereby a portion of the skull is removed.

“For the next 24 hours, every time the doctors came out to give us an update they would say ‘She’s alive,’” Stacey says. “We took it one hour at a time until we got the news—she was showing signs of improvement, but she was paralyzed on her left side.”

“There was talk about how much movement I would regain, and the doctors would say, ‘We have to take it one day at a time’ and I would just say no,” Lalia says. She didn’t want to hear about anything other than a full recovery.

The road to recovery

Two and a half weeks after the accident, Lalia was admitted to the Margie and Robert E. Petersen Foundation Rehabilitation Center at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. She stayed for approximately seven weeks of inpatient care and intensive physical therapy and occupational therapy.

“When she arrived, she could hardly move her left side. She couldn’t do finger-to-finger or finger-to-nose kinds of things,” says Kevan Craig, DO, Chief of the Division of Rehabilitation Medicine at CHLA. “She couldn’t stand and she couldn’t even get out of bed. She could talk and her speech was OK, but her left side was basically shut down.”

Even though they knew they had a long road ahead of them, “from the moment we arrived at CHLA it felt different, brighter,” Stacey says. “Her room was bright yellow, the curtains were open and it was sunny, and it just felt so positive.”

Lalia in October 2020 two days after the accidentLalia in October 2020, two days after the accident

The upbeat environment, combined with the support of her parents and her three brothers, motivated Lalia as she began intensive occupational and physical therapy three hours a day. Lalia’s treatment involved using Modified Constraint-Induced Therapy approach: a removable cast was placed on her right arm so that she would have to focus on using her left arm and hand. This would help her relearn skills such as dressing herself and holding a script. The team also worked on assessing her cognitive and memory recall skills by having her read and memorize lines or follow multistep instructions.

The other focus of Lalia’s inpatient treatment was to improve her range of motion and build enough strength, coordination and endurance to walk again. On Nov. 9, Lalia stood up for the first time. On Dec. 20, she took her first steps with a walker.

“I knew I would walk again. I knew I could do it if I put in the work,” Lalia says, noting that she had so much support from patients and the staff. “Everybody was so upbeat.”

Since being discharged just before Christmas, Lalia has stayed in touch with several patient families. She also still sees her favorite CHLA team members at her weekly therapy appointments.

“Lalia was so weak when we started,” says Briana Pollard, OTD, OTR/L, who has worked with Lalia since January. “Now she can carry things with her left hand without hesitation. We have worked on things like zipping up her hoodie, tying her shoes, putting her hair in a ponytail, putting on earrings —basic life skills that we normally don’t give a second thought about but that promote independence in life. Of course, getting back to playing soccer, BMX biking, and all of her other amazing activities is the ultimate goal, but first we had to look at the bigger picture and work on all her self-care tasks and underlying skills that she will need to live her life independently, socialize with her friends, and do the things she loves to do.”

On March 3, Lalia took her first steps unassisted and on March 25, she returned to work on “Station 19,” much to the delight of her fellow cast and crew members.

Giving thanks by giving back

Now Lalia is focused on giving back to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. On June 12, she and her family will participate in the Fifth Annual Walk and Play L.A.virtual event. Lalia has also committed to donating a portion of sales from her clothing line, LATE, which she and her friend Cate launched May 9. The line, whose name is a combination of the girls’ first names, is a collection of “dressy lounge wear” for Tween girls and features several pieces that are named after the caregivers who helped Lalia get back on her feet. And, if a caregiver puts in a special request, Laila says LATE will customize at no charge any of the sweatshirts or tees to accommodate a patient’s needs.

“We wanted to design some items that would help kids in the hospital because it’s hard to get dressed when you have an IV or a cast,” Lalia explains. For every item purchased through LATEclothingla.com, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to CHLA’s Division of Rehabilitation Medicine.

A gifted athlete who enjoys competing in track and soccer and also rides BMX bikes with her three brothers, Lalia knows the importance of regular exercise to stay healthy.

“I don’t have my fine motor skills back with my left arm and my hand, but I can move it up and down and to the side,” Lalia explains, noting that she’s continuing to make progress and hopes to resume the activities she enjoyed before the accident after having another surgery later this year.

“My skull is still open where the nail went into the back of my head, so they will need to put in a PEEK implant.”

A PEEK, or polyetheretherketone, implant is man-made, computer-designed material that basically serves as a “puzzle piece,” Lalia says, “that will fit in the area where bone was removed after my accident.”

While Lalia will need to continue to focus on her recovery, “the improvement she has made thus far is remarkable,” Pollard says. “Lalia is such a go-getter in all aspects of her life. She doesn’t take the easy way out. Nothing is going to hold her back.”

Mothers and children face too many dangers in Los Angeles neighborhoods.

REAL ESTATE NEWS — Los Angeles, CA

Women and children have been swept under the rug in L.A. They cannot safely walk on the sidewalks, nor can they ride a bicycle in too many parts of Los Angeles in 2021. Mothers and their children have unfairly born the brunt of defunding police, virus hysteria, media hype and lockdown atrocities. Moms and their babies are being wiped out economically.

The fallout from the virus panic and outrageous lockdown has been disastrous for women. Millions of women worldwide have been disproportionately affected by job losses, with many more left reeling from massive disruptions to childcare and education. Globally, women lost at least $800 billion in income last year, according to a new report from Oxfam International. The impact on women’s mental health is just as atrocious.

There was a time when my mother walked hand in hand with her mother, along the sidewalks of Downtown Los Angeles. They could enjoy eating at Clifton’s Cafeteria, then taking the electric streetcar back home. Those times are gone. Today, mothers no longer feel safe, and it is not practical to walk down sidewalks of Downtown L.A., as many of the sidewalks are totally blocked, forcing mothers and kids to walk in the street. Otherwise, the mothers must face unstable mentally ill substance abusers trippin’ out hardcore, sometimes in unpredictable violent rages. This is not a position that any mother or child should ever be forced to confront when trying to walk or shop in LA or anywhere.

Until mothers, daughters and sons can walk in this city in peace, safety and cleanliness, no citizens of the city center can take pride in our home. A Downtown that is devoid of mothers is a neighborhood starved of love. We have the ability to become a world-renown, respectable destination. We can do it. As soon as Angelenos face the truth, then take the required action to clean up the encampments, refuse, needles and human waste, we will then be able to look at ourselves in the mirror, and know that we have finally made the grade — safe mothers and children are the litmus test of a good city.

REAL ESTATE NEWS

 Los Angeles, California

Get FREE Instant Access by completing the form on this page.

According to industry experts, there are more than 33 physical problems that will come under scrutiny during a home inspection when your home is up for sale. A new report has been prepared that identifies the most common of these problems, along with what you should know about them before you list your home for sale.

Whether you own an old home or a brand new one, there are a number of items that can fall short of requirements during a home inspection. If not identified and dealt with, any of these eleven items could cost you dearly in terms of repair. That’s why it’s absolutely critical that you read this report before you list your home. If you wait until the building inspector flags these issues for you, you’ll most certainly experience costly delays in the close of your home sale or, worse, turn prospective buyers away altogether.

In most cases, you can make a reasonable pre-inspection yourself if you know what you’re looking for. And knowing what you’re looking for can help you prevent little problems from growing into costly, unmanageable disasters.

To help home sellers deal with this issue before their home is listed, a FREE report entitled “11 Things You Need to Know to Pass Your Home Inspection” has been prepared, which explains the issues involved.

Order this report NOW to learn how to ensure that a home inspection doesn’t cost you the sale of your home. Fill out the online form:

Mother Always Said You Should…

Did my mom used to tell me over and over again to do this and do that, not do this and not to do that? Actually, she was more of a free-range mom. I recall that she gave very valuable advice. Why I support Children’s Hospital Los Angeles

I grew up right here in the Greater Los Angeles Area, born in Los Angeles County at St. Francis Hospital. I remember when I first heard about a young person close to our family suffering from a nasty disease and getting treated for that at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. It was then that I began to pay closer attention to the work they do at that hospital. Since then, I have learned that it is a collection of hard-working heath care professionals, most making their home right here in the Los Angeles area, all coming together for a common cause. That cause is to help young people overcome unfortunate health issues that life sometimes throws our way. I have discovered that Children’s Hospital Los Angeles shares similar commitment to their patients. And since their services survive on sponsorships and donations, we are happy to contribute, and proud to support them.

Sincerely,

Owen Is Living Seizure-Free After Brain Surgery

Undetected for years, a tumor in the 8-year-old’s brain was finally removed thanks to a team of specialists at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles  — By Eunice Oh

All it took was six words: “Can I have some Cup Noodles?”

And just like that, Diana knew her son was OK. Owen had just woken up from brain surgery and hearing him request his favorite food allowed her to breathe a sigh of relief.

Hours earlier, the 8-year-old had been wheeled into the operating room where a team of experts attempted to eradicate the seizures that had begun suddenly three months earlier. Each incident was alarming. Sometimes Owen’s neck would twitch and freeze, other times his eyes would roll back. Unable to talk or control his movements, he once had an episode while riding his bike and crashed.

“We were frightened,” Diana says about she and her husband, Erik. “We started watching him like a hawk. We noticed the seizures would get longer and longer, and last a good minute or two.”

The seizures were being trigged by something Owen’s parents never expected. An MRI scan revealed a brain tumor the size of an egg that possibly had been growing since birth, his doctor believed. Diana and Erik immediately began researching the best pediatric neurosurgeons in the country.

An extra touch of care

When it comes to a brain tumor, labeling it as “benign” or “non-benign” isn’t so clear-cut, says Mark D. Krieger, MD, Senior Vice President and Surgeon-in-Chief of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and a Board-certified pediatric neurosurgeon. There are high-grade tumors and low-grade tumors; lethality depends on how fast they grow and how quickly they can be treated.

“The interesting thing about Owen’s case was that this was a slower-growing tumor that had been there for a while, yet he was still an incredibly high-functioning kid,” says Dr. Krieger, who also holds the Billy and Audrey L. Wilder Chair in Neurosurgery. “Like any tumor, if it continued to grow, it could have become fatal.”

Owen had a glioneuronal tumor, an extremely rare condition that can cause pressure on the brain, block the flow of cerebrospinal fluid and trigger seizures. It was near the parietal and occipital lobes of the brain, an area that affects movement, vision and perception, which explained the frequent eye spasms Owen had also been experiencing.

“Initially we thought it was too much Zoom time or being on the computer too much because this all started at the beginning of the pandemic, when school was held online,” says Diana. “We had no idea it was something this serious.”

The diagnosis prompted Diana and Erik to have Owen’s twin, Daniel, also undergo an MRI. “They’re identical so that got us thinking we should probably double check. Luckily, though, he was fine,” she says.

The family’s search for a surgeon led them to the Neurological Institute at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, which houses one of the country’s largest pediatric brain and spinal cord tumor programs. Among the more than 750 surgeries performed at the Institute every year, 100 are specifically for brain tumors, and care is coordinated with multiple specialists, including oncologists, radiologists and pathologists.

“We knew right away that Dr. Krieger was our guy,” recalls Diana. “There was something different about him. He called us even before we met him for our first appointment and reassured us that there were options, and that everything would be OK. As a nervous parent, that extra touch of care was so comforting.”

A targeted approach

Owen’s tumor was in the back of his brain and not on the surface, making it a particularly challenging surgery. One key piece of technology that Dr. Krieger used during the procedure was the STEALTH System, which takes an MRI of the patient’s brain, digitizes it and places it into a 3D space that generates a clear picture of the patient’s brain anatomy. Ultrasound was then used to see through Owen’s brain to pinpoint the tumor’s location and the most direct path to it.

Also in the operating room was Latanya Agurs, MD, a pediatric epilepsy expert who partnered with Dr. Krieger on performing an electrocorticography. The process involves placing electrodes directly onto the brain to determine where seizures originate. At first, the two saw seizure activity “coming from all around the brain,” says Dr. Krieger. But once the tumor was removed, nothing was detected.

“That was a good sign we had taken out the whole tumor,” says Dr. Krieger, “and likely also cured his seizures.”

After spending four days in the hospital, Owen was discharged, and his speedy recovery at home shocked his parents. “It wasn’t even two weeks when he asked us if he could ride his bike again,” Diana says, laughing. “We told him, ‘No, no, no. Not until Dr. Krieger says you can.’” Owen got the greenlight a few weeks later.

“Although this type of surgery sounds like a big procedure, we’re not cutting through muscle or pain-sensitive structures so children typically mobilize after a short period of time,” explains Dr. Krieger. “You’d be surprised how resilient kids are and how quickly they can rebound.”

Fortunate and grateful

The one-year anniversary of Owen’s surgery is coming up, and so far all his follow-up MRI scans have come back clean. He’s completely off his seizure medication, and he’ll continue to be monitored over the next 10 years to make sure the tumor and seizures don’t return. “But we have every expectation that won’t happen,” says Dr. Krieger.

Diana and Erik are just as hopeful. “We feel so fortunate because we know the hospital treats so many kids and we were one of the lucky ones. Owen’s issue was addressed and we don’t have any ongoing issues. We know that’s not always the case,” says Diana.

“To know that there is a place like Children’s Hospital,” she adds, “with all the resources and the most amazing doctors, nurses and staff who really care about the kids, it makes you really grateful.”

Electricity for 1/3 the cost.

REAL ESTATE NEWS:  Energy for HOA Communities |  Blog Video

A solar system produces all the electricity consumed on the property.

Through Net Energy Metering, the monthly payments to the electric utility company are reduced to zero.

Solar panels are inexpensive and in mass production. They are designed to last for 40-50 years. They come with a 25-year energy production guarantee from the manufacturer.

All that is required for a single condo owner to determine how large a solar system is needed is a recent electric utility bill. If it is a larger project for the HOA common area, simply provide 12 consecutive months of utility bills.

A solar Installer Rating Service can assure the utmost in Quality, Reliability and Customer Service. Work with solar companies that have experience with large complex projects, are fully licensed and provide the utmost in customer service.

The cost of an installed solar system is much less than what it was a few years ago. In 2021, it may produce electricity for as little as a third of what you are paying the utility company.

You can MAKE money with a solar system because it is a PRODUCING asset. The electricity it produces has monetary value and is purchased by the utility company through Net Energy Metering.

The installation process is streamlined and efficient. There is no interruption in electricity service to the property.

Financing

No Money Down financing is readily available with flexible terms and modest interest rates. There is NO LIEN placed on the property.

Monthly payments are LESS than the average electric utility bill you are currently paying. A typical payback period is 7-9 years.

There is a 26% Federal Energy Tax Credit available on the full installation cost of a rooftop photovoltaic solar electric system. For a commercial project it is called the Federal Energy Investment Tax Credit. This program was supposed to be phased out at the end of 2019, but was extended for 2 more years.

Various forms of financing included firms that specialize in financing energy projects.

Consult with an independent Energy Adviser that has expertise in solar energy, storage batteries and EV charging stations, one that specializes in solar projects for HOA communities and large residential properties, and can help homeowners save a lot of money on electricity — both in the short term and the long term.

Condo home owners find it advantageous to get an assessment of the energy situation for a property and an evaluation of the feasibility of a solar project.

Get a FREE energy audit and a FREE financial analysis to show the cost savings and estimate the financial payback period, along with various forms of financing.

A Solar/Electrical Installer Rating Service can make sure that homeowners gets an experienced company to do the design and installation – and one that will provide ongoing support and customer service in the future. It is important to realize that not all solar companies are capable of handing the requirements of a complex project.

Corey Chambers Top 10 List – Duplex, Live Work Space Los Angeles

Corey Chambers – This triplex transaction made a hefty profit for the investors, and the work was done for them.

For my few (but very powerful) fans, here are the top ten topics that are associated with my name, Corey Chambers, according to internet metadata analysis of blog post articles and social media:

Duplex For Sale – Glad to see this topic high on the list because I’ve helped many home buyers and investors to get super financial results by finding them multi-unit properties 4plex and smaller, including duplex, guest house, casita, ADU, tri plex, guest home and inlaw suite. I’m more than happy to be known as Corey Chambers, The Duplex / Guest House Guy. These properties can really make a lot of money, and allow the home owners to live for free.

Live Work Space Los Angeles – This is the topic that I write about nearly every day on the L.A. Loft Blog. I also talk about live/work space in L.A. on video webcasts and audio podcasts daily.

Skid Row Mansion – This is the not-so-pleasant kind of real estate that surrounds many loft and condo buildings around central Los Angeles. The Loft Blog has been among the few voices pointing out that the homeless problem is getting worse while it can (and should) be getting better.  >> MORE

Warehouse Lofts For Rent – Industrial style never goes out of fashion for loft lovers and those who prefer to live in a unique home with character.  DETAILS

LA Loft Blog – This is what I do every day — find and publish information on lofts in Los Angeles to help home buyers, sellers, renters, landlords and investors. Real estate professionals also rely on the L.A, Loft Blog for valuable information on the local market and industry. www.LALoftBlog.com

Live Work Lofts Los Angeles – This is pretty much the same as Live Work Space Los Angeles above.

Lofts For Rent – While real estate professionals usually call this “Lofts For Lease“, the word rent is just as good of a description. A lease is simply an agreement to rent a property for specific terms, including time period, price etc. Most rental agreements are for a one year lease, which often reverts to a month-to-month rent after 12 months has passed.

OceanWide Plaza – This beast of a mixed-use real estate development in a prime South Park location of DTLA, languishes unfinished, as the developer tries to unload it. Nobody is rushing to buy the beleaguered behemoth. One crazy doctor has called me twice, claiming that he wants to buy OceanWide Plaza. When it comes time for him to send proof of funds for $100 million, the doctors disappears.

Cheap Artist Lofts Los Angeles – The word “cheap” is relative, as we haven’t seen any of our clients rent a place under $2,000 in a long time. Maybe, if Downtown real estate crashes more, this could change. | Affordable Lofts For Lease

Lofts For Sale in Los Angeles – Now we’re talkin’ my language. This is where I can add the most value to a transaction in Downtown LA. My buyers have access to the largest number of unlisted, pocket listings and off-market properties. My seller clients get an extra $12,000 to $14,000 more in their pockets when I help them to sell their lofts. Anyone could use an extra 14 grand!  DETAILS

REAL ESTATE NEWS

Blog Video

As the Loft Blog warned more than a year ago, virus hysteria and lockdown would exact a long-term toll much worse than most realize. Last July, permanent business shutdowns surpassed temporary closures as economic reality set in. Nine months later, most of those permanently closed businesses are still out of business. This week, new unemployment claims unexpectedly shot up as many small businesses fail to thrive. While governments and the Fed continue to stymie the economy, giving radical amounts of money to expand the billionaire class, paycheck-to-paycheck workers are pushed into abject poverty and homelessness. California bears the brunt of this economic carnage, with 1 out of every 5 new jobless claim in the U.S. In addition to decimation of small businesses and the middle class, the poor (locally and internationally) suffer the most from the havoc and ruin that naturally follow panic and overreaction.

Long noting the economic reality that ALL JOBS ARE ESSENTIAL, the Loft Blog has been among the few voices raising concerns of long-term damage to the economy, public health, mental health caused by panic, hysteria, exaggeration, propaganda and censorship. Mass hysteria remains a running theme as politicians and media fail to ask tough questions about comorbidityagenon-lockdown statesventilator deathsinfluenzapneumoniaPCR test errors and total death count.

While things are much worse than we are being told, things can also get much better than we might imagine — after we stop the hysterical behaviors, stop destroying the economy, renounce the paltry government handouts, properly account for the harm of extended lockdown, capitulate to the truth of economic weakness, then atone for the mistakes by reversing course. After we hold politicians and their accomplices accountable for their mistakes and misdeeds, wrest control away from the corrupt bureaucrats, restore free enterprise and liberty, things may turn around for real.
